Helping oil and gas companies establish and audit Fatigue Risk Management Standards and Plans

Fresh Air work with oil and gas majors; first, by helping them to develop a Fatigue Risk Management Standard to apply across their global operations; and then providing training for their auditing teams to help them check individual business units’ compliance with the Standard.

Throughout our careers we have had the privilege to travel to sites in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, conducting site assessments and audits, training safety management teams and assisting entities conducting operations in harsh environments to manage the fatigue of their workforces.

TotalEnergies UK

French oil and gas major, TotalEnergies, commissioned Fresh Air to assist them to undertake an assessment of fatigue risk for workers engaged in COMAH-critical tasks at one of their facilities.

Over the next 12 months we acted as expert advisors to the Safety Management team, overseeing the collection and analysis of a wide range of fatigue data, helping in the development of a Fatigue Risk Management Plan, which was subsequently successfully delivered to the HSE.

Background

Since the mid-2000s regulatory authorities and oil and gas industry representative bodies around the world have required organisations involved in the exploration, production and transportation of oil and gas products to demonstrate that they have in place effective controls for measuring, mitigating and managing the fatigue risk of their safety-critical workers.

For those engaged in COMAH-critical tasks (Control of Major Accident Hazards) there are additional, more stringent requirements, reflecting the increased risk associated with these operations.
